Life is not a destination, but a journey. As a person-centered therapist, I will work to guide you on that journey while prioritizing the importance of self-love, compassion, and acceptance along the way. I strive to create a safe and affirming space for all of my clients, regardless of background, identity, or any current challenges you may be facing.
I believe that therapy is a space where you should feel safe to be your most honest and authentic self. To facilitate this, I focus first on building therapeutic rapport with my clients so that you can relax into the process and trust that together we will learn to embrace, and not judge, your most authentic self. It is this self-knowledge and radical acceptance that I believe to be the most important step towards healing.
I further believe that being my own authentic self with my clients first allows them to feel safe expressing their own authenticity in turn. We are all humans first, and I strive to embody a strengths-based approach to our work that will help to dispel shame and internalized criticism as we work to uncover the core of who you have been, who you are, and who you ultimately want to be. While I am an integrative therapist who often employs a variety of therapeutic modalities—including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EDMR), and Mindfulness—I value the needs of and relationship with each particular client above all else, and as such I will always tailor these therapeutic methods in order to specialize therapy for the needs of each individual person I work with.
I received my Masters in Counseling at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology and completed my advanced clinical internship at the Howard Brown Health Center, providing therapy to a wide variety of folk facing issues such as anxiety, depression, work/life balance concerns, relationship conflict, transition stress, and identity issues. I am additionally currently in the process of completing an intensive, 60-hour Somatic EMDR certificate training that I look forward to integrating into my work moving forward. Personally I am a mid-life career-changer, so I benefit from bringing my rich life and work experiences into sessions to help my clients and build connection and rapport. As a trans and queer therapist, I additionally understand the unique needs of queer communities and love connecting with and facilitating healing for other queer folk.
