FAQs

  • We offer in-person sessions at two Chicagoland locations:

137 N. Oak Park Avenue, Suite 327, Oak Park, IL 60301 (in the Scoville Square building on the corner of Lake St & Oak Park Ave)

1802 W Berteau Avenue, Suite 210, Chicago, IL 60613 (directly across from the Deagan Clock Tower Building on the corner of Ravenswood Ave & Berteau Ave)

We additionally offer virtual sessions to anyone in the state of Illinois.

  • We work with kiddos, adolescents, teenagers, and adults ages 8 and up as well as couples struggling with communication issues, sexual intimacy, and infidelity. We also specialize in working with neurodivergent folk (ADHD, Autism, HSPs, general executive functioning challenges, etc.), grief & loss, LGBTQIA+ identified clients, and anyone experiencing general stress, anxiety, mood disorders, or major life transitions.

If we feel your issues are outside of our scope, we’ll do our best to refer you to a therapist we know and trust.

  • If you are a new client, you can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation using our New Client Request Form.

If you are a current client, you can either login to your secure client portal to schedule a session or contact your therapist directly via email or phone.

  • Our regular fees are:

    • $140 per 45 minute individual session

    • $160 per 55 minute individual session

    • $180 per 55 minute conjoint/couples session

The initial evaluation period, which can last from one to three 60 minutes sessions, is billed at $225 per session.

If you do not have insurance coverage or do not want to use your benefits, and you cannot afford our regular fees, we offer a few sliding scale fee spots based on your income.

All payments are due at the time of service. Please check with your provider for any deductibles or co-pay amounts that need to be paid by the end of the therapy session.

  • CCP currently accepts BCBS PPO and Out of Network. For those Out of Network, we can help clients submit for and receive out-of-network reimbursement with ease.

Many of our clients have insurance with a company other than BCBS, and they pay us in full at the time of service. CCP then provides them with a monthly “Superbill" (basically a statement with diagnostic information) that they provide to their insurance company for out of network reimbursement (usually between 60-80%).

You would need to check on your particular policy to confirm what your out-of-network benefits are. After reimbursement, many clients end up out of pocket no more than their in-network copay.

  • If you late cancel (less than 24 hours notice) or no show to any session, you will be billed directly (either $140, or the appropriate amount according to the scheduled fee, whichever is less) unless you and your therapist agree that it could not have been avoided.

Where possible, your therapist is happy to attempt to accommodate rescheduling a session in lieu of charging the scheduled fee, but please note that this is not guaranteed. For this reason, if you ask for a reschedule with less than 24 hours notice of your reserved appointment time and your therapist is unable to accommodate this request, you will need to either attend your session as originally scheduled or you will be billed directly as per above (either $140, or the appropriate amount according to the scheduled fee, whichever is less).

Please take note that fees for missed sessions or late cancellations are never paid by insurance companies and therefore you will be directly responsible for the payment for any missed appointments or late cancellations.

  • Both individual and couples sessions generally range between 45-to-55 minutes.

  • For video sessions, CCP uses a HIPAA-secure system that is similar to Zoom called TherapyNotes. No download is needed. Instead, you will be able to log into your secure client portal using the browser on any device with an Internet connection and simply click a button to begin your session.

About 24-hours before each session, you will be emailed or texted (you get to set your own communication preferences when you first log in) a reminder link about the upcoming session.

Most clients additionally “bookmark” their client portal log-in link so that they can access it easily as needed moving forward for scheduling, attending virtual sessions, checking their account balance, or paying a bill.

The CCP Secure Client Portal URL is: https://www.therapyportal.com/p/ccp23/

  • Make sure that you have completed all necessary intake paperwork via your secure client portal BEFORE your first session! If this is not done, your therapist may need to reschedule with you for a later date so that you can have more time to complete things before you meet.

Please come to your first session armed with any questions you might have for your therapist as well as whatever feelings you are having at that moment. The first session with a CCP therapist is generally some necessary initial housekeeping, policy review, and a mutual “getting to know you” process, before moving forward with your therapist into goal setting and, eventually, goal achieving.

We also strongly encourage you to bring a list (or make a mental list) of any important or big subjects you want to dig into, share, or get feedback on in your sessions.

We put as much effort into your work as you do and encourage you to come prepared and ready to reflect!

  • What you share in therapy is completely confidential except for a few necessary legal exceptions as dictated by HIPAA. This includes information regarding wanting to harm yourself or others.

Confidentiality forms, including an explicit outline of these exceptions, will be reviewed with you directly during your first therapy session.

  • This totally depends on you! Sometimes quick relief can be found after a few sessions, but long lasting change usually takes more practice and support.

CCP therapists put special focus into establishing a safe and trusting relationship with our clients and have found that building this foundation can take the time it takes.

  • You can expect to enter a safe, nonjudgmental zone where curiosity, play, and mistake making are all encouraged.

Depending on the day, you may want to openly discuss whatever feelings or thoughts are on your mind at the moment, focus in on deeper standing issues you want to resolve, experience mindfulness training and practice, and/or receive some helpful psychoeducation to learn more about what ails you and all the things you can do about it.

Depending on the circumstance, your therapist may also assign “homework.” We believe that deep change happens best when it’s practiced outside of just one 45-to-55-minute session a week. With that said, at the end of the day it is YOUR choice to engage in any homework or not.

We encourage you to be honest with us about this and trust that we honor your judgment.
